Owls for Atlantic Hearts Sketch #18

Happy Labor Day Weekend!  Today's card was made following the Atlantic Hearts Sketch #18.  I liked this sketch right away and originally thought I would feature 4 gifts boxes ( from Close To My Heart M1030 "A Little Gift") but I couldn't figure out how to color them to my liking so I scrapped that idea and chose the owls from Who's My Valentine Close To My Heart January Constant Campaign.  I used the Art Philosophy cartridge (pg.35) to cut the branch and leaves at 2.5" from Desert Sand and New England Ivy CS.  The owls were stamped on Whisper CS with Slate ink and their beaks were colored with an Autumn Terracotta Alcohol marker.  The background panel is Champagne CS with a Barn Red panel.  The "Smile" greeting is from  "Washi Wonder" a Hostess only reward from Close To My Heart (check out page 6 of the new Idea Book) and was stamped in Barn Red Ink.  Wiggle eyes were attached with Mini-Glue Dots and the owls were popped up with 3D Foam Tape.  I  really like how this card turned out!

Summer Smiles for Rose Blossom Garden Challenge #10

Happy Labor Day Weekend which in the USA signifies the end of summer and back to school!  The challenge for the last 2 weeks of August at the Rose Blossom Garden is to use a summer theme and the Artbooking Family key (page 67).  This is probably one of the fastest cards I ever made (although the planning of it took some thought!)  I really liked the photo mats from page 67 and decided to "frame up" a scene from Surf's Up paper.  I cut photo mat 1 at Real Dial Size at 4" and then chose a section of the paper to highlight.  I stamped a greeting "Summer Smiles" (from Summer Wishes set retired CTMH) in Pacifica ink in the top right hand corner.  The final touch was the application of Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel on the top of the wave part of the frame.  I also placed the framed picture on the card so that the bottom and right side were white--just to add a little bit more interest.

Hang in There for CAS(E) This Sketch # 42

Here is a really quick card that I made using a digital image from Bugaboo stamps for CAS(E) This Sketch # 42.  I used the "glow" feature of the picture tools tool from Microsoft Word to outline the image. The image was trimmed on the paper cutter and colored in with old CTMH markers. I used a strip of new Lagoon Houndstooth Washi tape under the image to follow the sketch.  The white background panel was mounted onto Lagoon CS and that is all there is to it!

Here is the CAS(E) this sketch #42:

I'm also entering this card into this week's Less is More challenge to use washi tape.

Make A Scene for Heart to Heart Challenge

The theme of this week's Heart 2 Heart challenge is to use your Close To My Heart stamps or CTMH cricut cartridges to create a scene.  The skating polar bear is from Polar Bear Holiday and the trees are from Frosted Cardmaking Kit.  I used very old metallic paper (D.O.T.S on the package so it had to be from the 90's!) to create an icy lake.  The trees were stamped in Ponderosa Pine Ink on Sky CS and then Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel was applied to give them an icy sparkle.  I used the CTMH Chalk Marker to put snow on the ground surrounding the lake.  The bear was popped up from the lake surface with 3D Foam Tape.

This was a really fun card to make!  We look forward to seeing how you interpret "Make a Scene".  Please use a direct link to link up to our blog.  You have until August 31st to enter your artwork.

Artbooking in August #4

Welcome to the 4th and final week of the Artbooking in August series.  A group of 35 Close To My Heart consultants have been hard at work creating one of the following 4 items to share with you each week--card, mini-album, giftable item or home decor and 2 page scrapbook layout.  We have each had the opportunity to stretch ourselves in the creative process.  Please visit as many blogs as you can and leave some appreciation for all the hard work we've put into this fabulous undertaking. Give a big thanks especially to Adeline Brill for setting this all up!

If you have come from Pam Ellison's blog you are on the right track! If you get lost you can go here to get back on track.

My last entry in this series is a 2 page layout which will also be a gift for a very dear friend.  I used the overlay cut on page 66 cut at 11" for the background of each page (the left side has the negative cut and the right side has the positive cut).  The "Great Outdoors" title was also cut at 11" (Real Dial Size off!) as all the cuts coordinate in size at the recommended 11"--how cool is that?

Materials used:
Artbooking Cartridge
Champagne CS
Desert Sand CS
Cranberry CS

Now head on over to see what the talented Shalana Glass has to share with you.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Black, Fuchsia and Red Color Challenge for Sunday Stamps Challenge #57

Welcome back to another Sunday Stamps Challenge post!  This week we challenge you to use the colors Black, Fuchsia and Red in a papercrafted project.  You can use any brand you wish.

My color choices are Close To My Heart Cranberry, Black, White Daisy and Watermelon (retired CTMH).  The White Daisy background was dry embossed with the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday folder.  A strip of red and white craft tape (washi tape) by Recollections was applied across the top portion of the card.  The stack of gifts was cut with the new Artbooking cartridge (pg. 86 Icon shift cut at 3.5") and small pieces of Cranberry and Watermelon CS were placed behind the overlay.  The gifts were popped up from the card with 3D Foam Tape.  I probably wouldn't have chosen to make this card with these colors had it not been for this Sunday Stamps challenge and I like how it turned out.

We can't wait to see what you create using these colors!   Please use a direct link to join us here and include a link back to us in your blog post.  (Feel free to post our color graphic too to let your readers know about our challenge.)

Please take the time to visit the rest of the Design Team's blogs and leave them some appreciation.

Pacifica and Sky for Color My Heart Color Dare #57

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare!  This week we are challenging you to use the Close To My Heart colors Pacifica and Sky. (You may substitute similar colors if you don't have Close To My Heart colors yet).  You may also use these colors with neutrals such as White Daisy, Black, Chocolate, Cocoa, Cashmere, Colonial White, Whisper, Slate, Desert Sand, Bamboo or Champagne from the Basics color palette on page 139 of the new Idea Book).

With this new catalog there are Hostess Only exclusive stamp sets and I used Quick Cards--Bright All Night (page 9 of Idea Book) to make this card.  This card was so quick to assemble--that's why "Quick Cards" is in the title!

I used Pacifica pigment ink to stamp onto White Daisy CS and then matted it with Pacifica and popped it up from the background with 3D Foam Tape.  There is a Sky CS background panel over White Daisy CS.  There are 2 pieces of Silver Shimmer Trim which I colored with Pacifica ink.  Can you guess what the last thing I did to finish this card was--did I hear you say "Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel" on the snowflakes?

We would really love for you to join us this week at the Color Dare!  There is a random monthly prize and weekly blog badges to be won!

Wintry Wishes for Freshly Made Sketch #99

With the new Close To My Heart Idea Book comes a new Hostess Rewards Program.  In addition to earning select product credit to be used on exclusive CTMH merchandise, hostesses will now be able to apply that credit towards exclusive stamp sets that only hostesses are eligible for.  Wintry Wishes (pg.9) is one of these fabulous new stamp sets that are offered at a reduced price (select product credit) for hostesses only!  I used the Freshly Made Sketch #99 to make this quick card:

I used up some old CTMH product in making this card since the patterned paper seemed to fit the penguins so well. (Summer Carnival Paper packet).  The greeting is from the Frosted Cardmaking Kit and there is some Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel here too.

Here is the Freshly Made Sketch #99:

Sentiment--ally Yours for Heart 2 Heart Challenge

If you are looking for the Artbooking in August post please go here.

Welcome back to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge post!  This week we are challenging you to make the sentiment the focus of your project.  I used the new Close To My Heart Frosted Cardmaking Kit for the paper and sentiment.  The card technique is called "Joy Fold" and you can find a tutorial about how to make it here.

The background paper is Twilight and I used Twilight Ink and Versamark Ink with Clear Embossing Powder.  For the front closure I used 3D Foam Tape behind the left part of the paper cut out snowflake so the front corner could tuck inside it.

This was a really easy card to make--if you haven't tried making a Joy Fold card yet I encourage you to try it!  There are lots of other exciting new creations being shared by Close To My Heart consultants.  Check here for the most current Color Dare using Laughing Lola colors and here for the Artbooking Blog Hop.

We would love to see what how you interpret "Sentiment--ally Yours" challenge.  You have until the end of August to link up your creation here. Please use a direct link for your project AND link back to the Heart 2 Heart blog so others can find us too.
