Anniversary Card with Atlantic Hearts Sketch #177

Here is a lovely card I made for my some special people.  The flowers were fussy cut from Stampin' Up's Gold Soiree Specialty Designer paper.  I was using up some stash so I used Close to My Heart Moonstruck paper.  The greeting is from CTMH Happy Couple which is newly retired.  The gold sequins have drops of White Opal Liquid Pearls.

Here's another look so you can see the shiny sequins.

My card was inspired by this fabulous Atlantic Hearts sketch:

Gelato Background for Atlantic Hearts Sketch #27

Atlantic Hearts always offers a great sketch to follow and this week is no different.  Blues are my favorite colors and I love trying out new products so when I saw a set of Faber-Castell Gelatos in shades of blue I knew I'd have to have them.  They look like tubes of chapstick and have a waxy feel to them.  After you apply them you use some water and a paintbrush to blend them.

Before I applied the Gelatos to regular white CS I clear embossed 60 from the retired Close To My Heart Friendship Alphabet.  I used a heat gun to dry the paper and then used red liner tape to adhere it to a Moonstruck CS background.  The background panel is Heavenly Blue and the White Daisy strip was run through the Cuttlebug with a Darice Embossing Folder.  The ribbon is holographic curling ribbon that I bought for wrapping Christmas presents.

I Made My Own Bling!

This card features the Close To My Heart March Stamp of the Month "Potential", Say it in Style stamp set and the colors Lagoon and Moonstruck. I wanted to add some bling to it and decided on 6 points. Instead of using glitter gel or sparkles I glued small hole punched circles from holographic paper! This cuts down on the weight of the card and the bulk of the card (and also the cost). (Gift bags can be good sources of holographic paper.) Hope you like the card and can use the idea.

Can you imagine all the possibilities of making your own bling? Different sized punches, or cricut cuts? I hope I've got you thinking....

If you are visiting this blog on 3/31 or 4/1 you could help my son out by voting for him to be selected to be in a WMMR band. Please text vote WC1 to 39333. More details are in the previous post. We would very much appreciate it!

Inspired By Challenge #6

This is a "garage inspired card". After looking at the photo provided by the Inspired By blogsite I tried to capture the colors of the storage bins in my card. In order from top to bottom the colors are all from Close To My Heart--Sky, Dutch Blue, Indian Corn Blue, Moonstruck, Pacifica. I used a Cranberry flourish cut by CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge to imitate the bike in the photo. The ovals were also cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge and the greeting is from CTMH Card Chatter Birthday Set. I curved the edges of this stamp set and I like how it turned out.

Here is my card:

Here was the inspirational photo:

I had fun designing this card from a garage photo. What do you think of my interpretation?

My Rock the Block Challenge--Day 3

Although I love the large corner floral stamp which I featured the last 2 days, I also like the other stamps in this set. Today I'm sharing a card that was made with a circle border stamp from the Rock the Block set. The paper colors are White Daisy, Moonstruck and Pear. The ink colors are Pear and Dutch Blue. The font is from the "A Typeface" set. The Pear colored bottom stripe was cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge. I used a Dutch Blue marker and a ruler to draw a line on the White Daisy strip and embellished with CTMH Clear Sparkles.

You can see all the other stamps in this set at this link.

My Rock the Block Challenge--Day 1

Happy New Year! One of my goals this year is to create more cards and to share them more often so I am promising myself to post a new card everyday for a week. I will be using the Close To My Heart special offer during January 2012 called "Rock the Block" which features a stamp set and collage blocks. For more details check out this link.

These are the stamps that were designed to fit on the 2 x 2 collage blocks:

My Day 1 card uses Buttercup, White Daisy, Spring Iris and Lagoon CS, Lagoon, Moonstruck, and Spring Iris inks. The ovals were cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy cricut cartridge. The ink was applied to the large floral stamp using a tissue to sponge 3 different colors onto the stamp before stamping onto the paper. The greeting is from D1475 Card Chatter--Birthday. Pearl adhesive gems were placed onto the flower centers.

November Stamp of the Month and Card Pattern Sketch #89

I've had a lot of fun lately playing with Close To My Heart's November Stamp of the Month called "A Little Thanks".  The stamp set is pictured here:

It is a very versatile set which is only available during November 2010.  The price depends upon how much other CTMH product you purchase and can range from $22.95 to FREE with a $100 purchase.  In addition Close To My Heart is extending thanks to those customers who spend $100 and offering a stamp set of their choice for FREE also.  You can get 2 stamp sets for FREE this month.  It is a very good deal! You can check out the catalog through my website.

Here are some cards that I've made from this set.  The first one follows Card Patterns Sketch 89:

I used Olivia papers, Barn Red CS, Barn Red Ink and Autumn Terracotta brads.  (The flowers were made with a Martha Stewart punch.) It was very quick to do.

The next card uses Sunset Ink, Barn Red Ink and CS and some gold edged ribbon.

The third card features Splendor paper, Moonstruck CS, Topiary CS and Goldrush Ink.  Cream opaques sit on top of the green buttons.

The next card features Magnifique papers and Pacifica Ink:

The last of these cards features paper from the Creative Basics Mistletoe Collection.and Cranberry Ink.  (The flourished square frame is a Martha Stewart punch.).
