Blue Toned Thank You Card with Atlantic Hearts Sketch #591

Welcome back to another Atlantic HeartsSketch Challenge blog post!  This week our sketch features a vertical layout with an off center panel with a round element and 2 round elements behind it. My card uses 3 shades of blue from Close to my Heart--Journey, Capri and Heavenly Blue.  The thread wrapped elements behind the sentiment circle are very old Heavenly Blue "Sassy Strands" from my stash.  The sentiment was hand written with a metallic gold pen.

Here is our fabulous sketch that inspired my card layout and for you to try.  Our challenge is open until Sunday evening, August 25 and you can link up your project here.  We look forward to visiting your blogs and leaving some bloggy comment love. Baby Boy Card With Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch and Twinkling H2O Paints

This colorful baby card was created with an old Close to My Heart wooden stamp called "For Baby" which was embossed with Outdoor Denim embossing powder and then painted with African Jade, Yellow Rose and Heavenly White Twinkling H2O paints.

Here is a close up so you can see how shimmery the Twinkling H2O paints are:

The blue footprint vellum paper is from Recollections and the solid blue panel is retired Close to My Heart Heavenly Blue.  Retired CTMH Outdoor Denim cardstock is the background panel for the focal image.

My card layout was inspired by this fabulous Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch:

Gelato Background for Atlantic Hearts Sketch #27

Atlantic Hearts always offers a great sketch to follow and this week is no different.  Blues are my favorite colors and I love trying out new products so when I saw a set of Faber-Castell Gelatos in shades of blue I knew I'd have to have them.  They look like tubes of chapstick and have a waxy feel to them.  After you apply them you use some water and a paintbrush to blend them.

Before I applied the Gelatos to regular white CS I clear embossed 60 from the retired Close To My Heart Friendship Alphabet.  I used a heat gun to dry the paper and then used red liner tape to adhere it to a Moonstruck CS background.  The background panel is Heavenly Blue and the White Daisy strip was run through the Cuttlebug with a Darice Embossing Folder.  The ribbon is holographic curling ribbon that I bought for wrapping Christmas presents.

Baby Card from Artiste Birthday Girl Key for Rose Blossom Garden Challenge #4

I've been pondering entering this challenge for the past week but just couldn't come up with a good idea.  Today I was asked to make a baby card and I got inspired to play along with the Rose Blossom Garden Challenge #4.  The challenge requires that we use a cricut cut from the Artiste cartridge from pg.69--the Birthday Girl key.   I used the Card and Shift key and cut at 8.25" from Heavenly Blue CS (retired CTMH) which actually makes an envelope.  I modified the shape I cut by trimming the sides and cutting off the bottom part to create a nice frame.  The patterned paper is retired Heavenly Blue and there is a Buttercup CS mat also.  The stamp is a very old wooden stamp by Close To My Heart called "For Baby".  There is a 1.5" strip of CTMH Black and Grey Glitter paper on the top part of the card.  I used Buttercup and Heavenly Blue markers to color the image and glitzed it up with Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel on the 2 stars and Silver Glitz Glitter Gel on the dots going around the image.  3D Foam Tape elevates the frame over the Silver Glitter strip and patterned paper.

Please stop by my blog tomorrow (5/24/13) to see the new Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge and details about my upcoming Memorial Weekend Blog Candy Giveaway.
