Color Dare #28--Goldrush, Twilight, Juniper, Ruby, Gypsy, and Cotton Candy

This week's color dare has 6 fun colors!  They are Goldrush, Twilight, Juniper, Ruby, Gypsy and Cotton Candy.  When I first heard about this selection of 6 colors I was thinking "this will be a real challenge to use all 6 of these colors!"  Then I remembered a fun card that I had pinned from Pinterest that uses the Word Window punch that I could adapt for this challenge.  You can find the card that inspired me here.  I like using up scraps of paper (and fabric when I'm quilting) so I took out some patterned paper in these colors and some cardstock in these colors and start punching them out.  I glued 7 columns on white cardstock and attached a Daisy dry embossed panel to the right of the punched out shapes.  I chose the greeting from A Little Thanks because it had a similar shape to the Word Window punch.  The card base is Ruby.  The Ruby flower centers were hole punched, glued down and then glittered with Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel--my favorite embellishment.  I used black and white twine from the  Bakers' Twine Neutrals Assortment to tie a bow and wrap around the multicolored panel.  Initially this was quite a challenge for me and I'm glad that I used all the colors in making this card that I really love.  I had fun meeting this challenge too!  I will be playing with this Word Window punch again soon!

Now, it's your turn to take up this 6 color challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare!  Please include the Color Dare #28 Color graphic (picture of stamp pads)  in your blog post to link back to us.  I hope you can join us--it did turn out to be a lot of fun to do!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Sweet Stop Sketch #195 for Play Date Cafe #166

Black, white and a splash of green are the colors for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge #166 and I found a very interesting sketch from Sweet Stop Sketches #195 to combine with this challenge.   I used Close to My Heart Topiary CS as my green.  The frog is from a retired CTMH set called "Frogs".  He was stamped in Topiary ink and then he received a coating of my favorite embellishment, Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel, all over his body except for the 3 brown spots which were Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel.  He also has tiny wiggle eyes which were applied with Mini-Glue Dots.  The patterned black and white papers are from CTMH Black Background & Texture Paper (retired).  The leaves extending from the bottom left and top right of the circle were cut with the Artiste cartridge (pg. 32 accent 3 shift cut at 1") from holographic green paper (source unknown).  The frog was raised up from the black circle with 3D Foam Tape.  I like how the frog and the leaves sparkle in the light.

January Stamp of the Month in Seize the Birthday #3 Challenge

This card was made for a special young lady who loves the color purple.  I used the Seize the Birthday #3 sketch and Close to My Heart's Happy Valentines Stamp of the Month for the focal image.  The card is 5 x 6.5".  The checkered background paper is Petal from the Winter Cozy Background & Texture Paper pack (retired CTMH).  The banner was cut using the Artiste cartridge (pg. 35, Accent 1 cut at 1.25") and stamped with the Happy Birthday stamp that comes with the Artiste collection so it matches the shape perfectly!  It was also colored with a Petal marker.  The centered white panel was dry embossed with the Divine Swirl embossing folder with my Cuttlebug machine.  The roses were stamped in Black ink and colored using Petal and Sweet Leaf markers.  As a finishing touch I used a fine point Martha Stewart Glue Writing Pen to outline the roses and then applied Prisma Glitter.  The Happy Birthday greeting on the banner also received the glue pen and prisma glitter treatment.

Here is the Seize the Birthday Sketch:

I'm also linking this card up to the Heart 2 Heart Challenge--all that glitters.

Valentine card with Sunday Stamps color challenge and Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch

I love color challenges and decided to use this week's Sunday Stamps SSC#33 color palette along with the Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge #102.  The color palette for the challenge features Raspberry Ripple, Crumb Cake and Perfect Plum--I substituted Close To My Heart Ruby, Wheat (retired) and Gypsy.   The three stamps that I used were stamped in Ruby ink and are all part of the Whoo's Your Valentine January special.  The Ruby background panel was run through the Cuttlebug machine inside "Juli's Garden" embossing folder.  The raised edges were then sanded to allow the white core of the paper to show through.  Small drops of Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel were placed inside the tiny circles formed by the embossing to give it a jeweled look.  Slender strips of black cardstock were placed behind the Ruby panel.  The heart was stamped inside a 2" punched scalloped circle and the edges were distressed with Ruby ink and placed on 3D Foam Tape to pop it up off the card.

Here is the Sunday Stamps color palette:

I am also entering this card into Black Tie Friday's Challenge #16--no patterned paper--I made my own with stamps and dry embossing and distressing.

Birthday Card for Paper Players Sketch #130

I made this card for a young lady who is a fan of the color green.  The patterned paper is from "Chantilly" a new release from Close to My Heart which debuts on Friday, February 1.  The card follows the Paper Players Sketch #130 and uses the colors Sweet Leaf and Topiary.  The card base was run through the Cuttlebug machine with the Musical Flourish Embossing folder--one of my favorites.  The greeting is from Salutation Seals and was stamped in Topiary ink.  The scalloped label frame was cut with the Artiste cartridge (pg. 56, accent 3 shift cut at 2.5"). 3D Foam Tape,  3/8" white grosgrain ribbon and Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel were the final embellishments to the card.

Here is the sketch I followed:

I'm also entering this card into Come and Get it Challenges--Tic Tac Toe  (I used from left top to bottom right Glitter (on patterned paper), free and ribbon),

Use it Tuesday #48 Warm it Up with Freshly Made Sketch #70

The focus of the Use it Tuesday challenge blog is to use your stash and I certainly have accumulated a lot of "stash".  I combined a new stamp "Cozy Cat" (my absolutely favorite!) along with the new paper (cat's pillow) from "Chantilly" which will be available to order from Close To My Heart this Friday, Feb. 1.  The other 6 elements I've had in my stash for quite awhile (Burlap Ribbon, Chocolate CS, Sunset CS, Victorian Buttercup B&T paper (retired), Cranberry B&T paper (retired) and Dotty for You--also retired.  The greeting "You Make Me Smile" is from Hooray Bouquet.  The focus of the Use it Tuesday #48 challenge this week is to use warm colors such as yellow, orange and red.  I followed the Freshly Made Sketch #70--I love their clean lined sketches and play along with them as much as I can.  Some extra embellishments I used were Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel, Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel, Silver Glitz Glitter Gel and 3D FoamTape.

Here is the Freshly Made Sketch I followed (flipping the pattern to fit in with the direction the cat is facing.) :

Color Dare #27--Sweet Leaf, Topiary and New England Ivy

We are very happy that so many wonderful papercrafters have participated in our Color Dare this past week.  For Color Dare #27 our colors are monochromatic shades of green--Close To My Heart Sweet Leaf, Topiary and New England Ivy.  I was in a whimsical mood when I designed this card and wanted to use the cute owl that comes with the "Whoo's Your Valentine" January promotion. (details here).  I stamped him in each of the indicated colors and mounted them on black rectangles and gave them very tiny wiggle eyes.  From top to bottom the background panels are New England Ivy gingham (retired), Topiary CS and Sweet Leaf from Miracle (retired).  The stamps come from "Just a Number" and were stamped in New England Ivy ink.  I had fun making this card and hope it brings a smile to your face too!

Now, it's your turn to use the greens.  Please join in on the fun and link up your creation using Sweet Leaf, Topiary and New England Ivy (you may substitute a similar color if you don't have these Close To My Heart products yet) to Color My Heart Color Dare by Thursday, January 31st at 9pm CT.

Heart Card for Numerous Challenges using Dynamic Duos #36 Colors

The challenge at Dynamic Duos this week is Real Red and Black with a Valentine theme.  Close To My Heart will be introducing new patterned papers in their new catalog which goes live on February 1 and "For Always" is among those wonderful new papers.  I've used it here as the background panel which is placed over Ruby CS.  The Ruby heart was cut with the Artiste cartridge at 2.75" accent 2, shift, page 51 and the black scalloped heart mat behind it was cut at 3" accent 2, page 51.  Love was stamped with White Daisy Ink and then embossed with White Daisy Embossing Powder.  A strip of Black Tulle Ribbon was bunched up and attached to the patterned paper before the heart and ribbon trim were attached.  The pleated ribbon is Riding Hood Red which is retired from Stampinup!

There are many other challenges this week that are using a Valentine or hearts theme and I am also linking this card up to:

Masculine Seize the Birthday #2 Card with Inspired by Stamping Colors #42

This card came together very quickly using some retired products from Close To My Heart. The colors suggested by Inspired by Stamping #42 are White, Olive and Blue (Outdoor Denim) and I followed a sketch by Seize the Birthday #2.  The papers are from the retired Lucky set and the stamps are from "It's Your Day" a constant campaign promotion offered by CTMH last spring.  I used CTMH Olive and Outdoor Denim inks and cardstock papers for the greeting mat.

Color Dare #24--Neutrals and Design Team Announcement

Have you been to Color My Heart Color Dare this week?  If so, you'll see that there is a brand new Design Team and I'm on it!  I'm very excited to  join the very talented ladies that are on this team!  Visit my sidebar and check out their amazing blogs. I've had the opportunity to be a Guest Designer for this challenge which I thoroughly enjoyed and now I will be submitting something made with the fabulous Close To My Heart products every week!

This week's challenge is to create a project (card, layout or other papercrafted item)  using only neutral colors from the Close To My Heart Basic color palette.  They are:

White Daisy
Colonial White and

At first I thought that this would be difficult as I usually prefer bright colors but then I remembered that I had the perfect CTMH paper in my stash.  Silhouette was one of my favorite Close To My Heart papers which retired several years ago but it works great for this color challenge!  It features Black, Bamboo, Colonial White and White Daisy.  The paper I chose has a lovely floral pattern to it.  On  my first card I also added Chocolate, Colonial White and Desert Sand cardstocks and used Almond Glitz Glitter Gel and Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel to embellish the patterned paper.  The sentiment is from Card Chatter--Sympathy (a very versatile set) and it was inked in Versamark ink, Chocolate ink and then clear embossed to give it some texture.

After I applied the CTMH Glitter Gels I wondered if maybe I went overboard with it so I made two more cards trying out different neutral colors.  In this next card I used Black and White for the greeting and Colonial White as the card base.

This last card features  Black embossed sentiment on a Bamboo strip of cardstock with a black card base.

I like all of these cards with a slight preference for the glittered first one.  Do you have a preference?  I would be interested in reading it and would love for you to leave me a comment if you have the time.

This neutrals color challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare ends at 9PM Central Time on Thursday.  We would love to have you join us there!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!
