Golf Themed Father's Day Card with Try a Sketch on Tuesday #697

I really enjoyed creating with Try a Sketch on Tuesday #697 earlier this week so I used it to make a second card using a golf themed card for my stepson. (My first card entry can be found here). The stripes were cut from a Recollections paper called Green Grass and the golf ball was cut from a Frances Meyer scrapbook paper.  The sentiment is from "Say it in Style" stamp set from Close to my Heart.

Here is the wonderful sketch that inspired my card layout:

I’m also entering this card into the following challenges:

      The Male Room #211--Outdoors

The Paper Funday June--AG with option of stripes or dots

Just a Note Card with Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch #490

Quite a while ago I created this lovely background with Local King Rubber's Ocean Waves background stamp and have finally put it to use in a card.  It was stamped in Sapphire Ink and Versamark Ink and Clear Embossed. It was sponged with Lagoon and Sky Inks.  I combined it with a very old wooden stamp set from Close to my Heart called Musical Medley, Sky cardstock and Sapphire cardstock. A White and Gold Ribbon separates the two panels as in the Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch.

Here is the fabulous Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch that inspired my card layout:

I'm also entering this card into Double Trouble #75 KAZOO-a-long (to add a musical element) which is partnering with TSOT this week.

This card also qualifies for Simon Says Wednesday challenge to "Make Your Own Background".  I'm also entering Aud Sentiments--Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Butterfly Birthday Card with Sunday Stamps Sketch #240

One of my friends who loves butterflies will be celebrating her birthday in November.  When I saw the "Butterfly Kisses and Birthday Wishes" sentiment stamp from the Close to my Heart Creativity in Motion special promotion I knew I would use it to make a card.  Rather than stamp butterflies on the card I remembered that I had older paper with a butterfly pattern (Dotty for You--retired CTMH).

The edges of the  Scalloped Circle Thin Cut frame were colored with a Blue Turquoise Tri Blend Marker.  The coral colored stripes and hearts are from Coral Shimmer Trim (retired CTMH).  The stitched butterfly centers were embellished with Icicles Stickles Glitter Glue.

Here is the fabulous Sunday Stamps Sketch that inspired my card layout:

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:
     Watercooler Wednesday--Anything Goes
Crafty Hazelnuts Patterned Paper--Anything Goes with Patterned                Paper

What's the Weather?--the Friday Mashup #187

Last week's Friday Mashup is all about the weather.  Apparently I couldn't pick one weather type so I have two contrasting weather items going on in my card:

Another challenge in the mashup is to use something "metallic".  Instead of using a brad or grommet I used metallic paper which is very challenging to photograph!

Here is another photo so you can see the focal panel better:

Can you see the reflection of my hair in this photo? LOL

Here is the graphic from the Friday Mashup:

Watercoloring with Stamp Pads for Color My Heart Color Dare #84

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare post!  This week we have 3 wonderful Close To My Heart colors for you to combine:  Sky, Topiary and Sweet Leaf.  (Of course, if you don't have Close To My Heart colors you may substitute similar colors).

How did I achieve this watercolored look?  I spritzed watercolored paper with water and used a Waterbrush and my CTMH inkpads.  With the lids closed I squeezed the top onto the inkpad to make a small pool of ink on the lid.  From left to right on my card are Topiary, Sweet Leaf and Sky inks.  The greeting was cut from the watercolored paper with the Artiste cartridge (page 65 accent 1) at 1.25".  Before I cut it out I experimented with a piece of scrap CS so I could center it the way I wanted.  (From the landscape orientation on my cricut machine I moved the cutting dial down .25" and 1.25" to the left).  The top layer was raised with 3D Foam Tape.

After I photographed this card I decided to embellish it with some flowers and sparkles.  I'm not really sure which I like better.  I would love to read your preference in the comments below.

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:
Hiding in My Craft Room--spring colors
Cut It Up--green for St. Patrick's Day or spring

Artiste Happy Birthday Key for Rose Blossom Garden #1 and Inspired By #69

I love to support my Close To My Heart consultant friends.  Brenda Rose and her team have just started a challenge to use a particular key from the Close To My Heart Artiste or Art Philosophy cricut cartridges to create a papercrafted item. Check it out here. I knew that I wanted to participate in this but didn't want to use the obvious Birthday items so I challenged myself to use the diamond shape to create a card.  Once I saw the Inspired By #69 challenge I  knew that I would use their colors for this card.   I cut the diamond shape (accent 4 shift) from page 70 of the Artiste handbook at 1/2" from the following Close to My Heart cardstocks:  Outdoor Denim, Sky, Cranberry, Blush, Sunset and Buttercup.  To make it easier to lay the diamonds down evenly (virgo trait) I lightly drew pencil lines 1/2" apart and placed the points of the diamonds on the lines.  Later on I erased those lines.  The greeting is from "Say it in Style" (retired CTMH) stamped in Cranberry ink, mounted on Sky CS and popped up from the background with 3D Foam TapeSilver Glitz Glitter Gel was applied to the points of the diamonds.  There is a mat of silver metallic paper (retired CTMH) on top of the Outdoor Denim background.  Although it was time consuming to make this card I really like the way it turned out.

Here is the photo from Inspired By that influenced my choice of colors.

If you like to use Close To My Heart products I would like to encourage you to join in a weekly color challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week's challenge is to use the CTMH color Juniper in a papercrafted item.  (You may substitute a similar color if you don't have Juniper).  Check it out here:
