Color Dare #93--Honey, Cranberry, Juniper, Twilight With Watercoloring

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge post!  This week we are daring you to combine all four of these Close To My Heart colors in your project.  (Of course close color substitutions are allowed if you don't have the assigned colors).

Since I recently enrolled in the Online Card Classes Watercoloring class my card reflects that.  The top banner was made by clear embossing the floral stamp from In the Background onto watercolor paper.  Then I used a narrow acrylic block pressed into the inkpad and then spritzed with water to stamp on the paper.  I did this several times with all the challenge colors and I like how it came out.

    Cranberry CS
    Black CS
    Twilight CS
    Honey Ink
   Cranberry Ink
   Juniper Ink
   Twilight Ink
   1 x 4 acrylic block
Enjoy the Little things stamp set (Hostess only set)
   In the Background Stamps
   3D Foam Tape
   Clear Embossing Powder (retired)

Other:
   Watercolor paper by Faber Castell
   Versamark Ink
   Prismacolor pencil

Please head on over to the Color Dare blog and check out what the fabulous Design Team and special Guest Designer Caroline have to inspire you.  We would love to see your artwork in our gallery.  Please use a direct link to your blog post when entering the challenge.

Lil' Black Dress for H2H Challenges

If you are looking for the OWH Card Making Day Blog post please go here.

Welcome back to another H2H Challenge post!  "Little Black Dress" is the theme of this week's Heart 2 Heart challenge.  I had fun making this cute party dress from the Close To My Heart Artiste cartridge  on page 41 cut at 3.5 inches from Black and Grey Glitter Paper and Silver Metallic paper (retired CTMH) and layered the two papers.  The side panel was stamped in Cranberry Ink using the floral stamp from In the Background stamp set with the edges distressed with Black ink.  The base layer is Cranberry CS.  The greeting is from the Fanfare Workshop on the Go set (retired CTMH) and this piece was distressed with Cranberry ink before being placed on the Black Glitter paper and popped up using 3D Foam Tape.

How will YOU interpret this theme challenge?  We would love to have you join in on our challenge.  Please use a direct link to link your creation to Heart 2 Heart challenges--you have until the end of October to enter this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Color Dare #46--Choose Your Own Pink, Yellow and Orange with Watercoloring Technique

This week's Color My Heart Color Dare challenges you to make a card using  all 3 colors (neutrals are allowed and don't count as a color) but you get to choose which shade of pink, yellow and orange to use from the Close To My Heart color palette. (If you don't have these colors you may substitute something similar).

The bottom two cards use a watercolor technique and the following CTMH colors:  Cotton Candy, Honey and Autumn Terracotta.  I used watercolor paper, a brush, some water and CTMH inkpads.  First I squeezed the closed inkpad lid into the pad so some ink would get onto the lid.  I then dipped my brush in water and then onto the inked lid and then painted the watercolor paper.  In the first card (Thanks) I stamped the floral image from In The Background with Versamark ink and then clear embossed it BEFORE I painted alternating striped diagonal colors.  After I trimmed the watercolored paper I matted it with strips of Autumn Terracotta and Cotton Candy.  The greeting is from Thoughtful Tidings (retired CTMH) and was stamped onto Art Philosophy cut White Daisy CS (pg. 63 square 5 cut at 1.75") with Autumn Terracotta Ink.  It was also matted onto Autumn Terracotta CS (same square 5 cut at 2") and onto a 2.25" square of Honey CS.  The final step was to add the Cotton Candy pom pom trim (retired CTMH).

For the second card I painted circles--from inside out the colors are Honey, Autumn Terracotta and Cotton Candy.  I then stamped over the circle with the medallion from Love Life in Archival Black Ink.  (I wanted to be sure the ink would not bleed).  From left to right the colored 1 5/8" squares are
Autumn Terracotta, Cotton Candy and Honey.  The medallion was mounted with 3D Foam Tape onto  a medallion cut from Black CS using the Artiste cartridge (page 31 accent 2 cut at 2.75").  These elements were all adhered to Colonial White CS.

While I was playing with these colors the new Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge was announced and I really liked it so I figured I'd make one more pink, yellow and orange card.   This time I used lighter  colors--Blush, Creme Brulee and Sorbet and the Honeycomb stamp set.  I used just the sentiment from Quick Card--Bumblebee  in Chocolate ink.  The final touch was the addition of 3 Mocha Opaque Gems under the greeting.  This was a really quick card to make following the sketch.

What 3 color combinations will you try? Current Close To My Heart yellows are:  Buttercup, Creme Brulee and Honey.  Current CTMH oranges are:  Goldrush, Autumn Terracotta, Sorbet and Sunset.  Current CTMH pinks are:  Blush, Smoothie, Cotton Candy and Hollyhock.  You may also use discontinued CTMH colors (or substitute other products if you don't have CTMH inkpads yet.)  To link up your papercrafted creation go to Color My Heart Color Dare.  The deadline is Thursday, June 13 at 7PM CST.  There is a monthly prize you could win!  Check out what the rest of the Design Team and our Guest Designer Sheila Bennett have done to get your creative juices flowing.

Color Dare #41--Pick your Color and Combine it with Saddle, Cocoa or White

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare blog post!  In this week's challenge you get to pick your favorite Close to My Heart Color and combine it with Saddle, Cocoa or White (usually we get to combine the featured colors with any of the 10 colors in the Basic color palette).

I wouldn't say that Creme Brulee is my favorite CTMH color but it is one that works well with the two shades of brown allowed in this challenge.  My first card uses a technique called "Split Negative" which can be found here.  Instead of using a stamped image to do this technique I used an Art Philosophy cut butterfly (page 41 layer shift cut at 2") with the colors Creme Brulee and Cocoa.  The bottom stripe was stamped with In the Background flowers in Creme Brulee ink on White Daisy CS matted with Cocoa CS.   Opaques Mocha Adhesive Gems were used for the antennae and flower centers from the bottom stripe.  I used my favorite CTMH embellishment--Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel--to glitz up the wings and some dots on the bottom stripe.

This week I became aware of another sketch challenge blog started by fellow Close To My Heart consultants so I figured I'd make a second card with Creme Brulee combined with Saddle following their sketch.  The name of the challenge is Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I followed the sketch and stamped Honeycomb  hexagons in Saddle Ink onto Creme Brulee CS.  The tiny bees that are popped up from the card with 3D Foam Tape is from a Petite Perks set.  The Saddle stripe on the bottom was created by inking White Daisy CS directly with the Saddle stamp pad--it's hard to believe that I don't own Saddle CS yet!  How did that happen?   The bee wings were also embellished with Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel.

Please come check out what the rest of the Color My Heart Color Dare Design Team have come up with.  You'll be inspired for sure!  You can submit your papercrafted item (doesn't have to be a card) by Thursday evening 9PM CS May 9.  Hope you can join in on the fun!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!
