Color Dare #99 With Retrosketch # 119

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge post!  Can you believe this is challenge #99 already?  Perhaps we should plan something special for our 100th challenge--would love to hear your ideas on that.  We would love to see you use all 5 of the following Close To My Heart colors in your papercrafted creation:

You can add neutrals such as white, black, greys or tans.  If you don't have the exact Close To My Heart colors you can use similar colors.

Sketch Time Again at Sunday Stamps!

Four Color Challenge at Sunday Stamps

Welcome back to another Sunday Stamps Challenge post!  This week we have 4 lovely colors for you to create with: 
     Generic colors: Turquoise, Pink, White & Grey
     SU Colors: Pink Pirouette, Tempting Turquoise, Smoky Slate & Whisper White
     CTMH Colors: Blush, White Daisy, Whisper, Tropical Blue (retired)

My card features an old CTMH wooden rose stamp in Blush ink used for the background,  Ritzy Ribbon stamped in Tropical Blue ink (retired CTMH) and Friendly Thoughts stamped in Black on both White Daisy and Whisper CS. I used an old SU border punch on the Tropical Blue horizontal piece and a small heart punch for the accents which was layered over Blush CS.  Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel was used on the hearts and on the Blush marker colored roses.

The inspiration from my card came from the challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch #161:

Artbooking in August #2

This week I am featuring cards. Last week I shared a giftable item with you which you can see here.  I was inspired to create these 2 cards from looking at the remnants of cuts I made for the front and back covers of my project.

Color Dare #53--Gypsy, Blush and Sorbet with Artbooking Overlay

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare post!  We are into our second year of providing this challenge featuring Close To My Heart Colors.  (You may substitute with similar colors if you don't have the challenge colors).  Thanks, Sarah Stone, for your vision and hard work in creating and maintaining this creative outlet for Close To My Heart enthusiasts!

Close To My Heart has a new Idea Book coming out on August 1 and as a consultant I was able to acquire new products earlier.  I'm having so much fun using the new Artbooking cricut cartridge and the Laughing Lola Cardmaking kit!  The lattice overlay was cut from Gypsy CS at  5.5" (page 50 of Artbooking handbook-- Overlay button).  This is layered over Blush CS. The horizontal strip was scallop punched from Sorbet CS with our new Scallop punch. Purple Gems (from the Laughing Lola Cardmaking Kit) were applied within the scalloped edges.

I usually don't purchase the Cardmaking Kits but when I saw the stamp set that comes with this kit, I just had to get it.  I love, love, love the greeting;  "You can never have too much happy"--what an awesome motto to live by!  The Laughing Lola Cardmaking kit includes this stamp set, 15 cards and envelopes, 2 sheets of Laughing Lola paper, 2 sheets White Daisy, 1 sheet Outdoor Denim, 1 sheet Pear, 1 sheet Slate, 1 Whisper, Black & Silver, Baker's Twine (10 yards), 1 package of Purple Gems and Instructional Brochure--priced at $24.95--a great value!) The background rays were stamped in Sorbet ink. Most of the greeting was stamped in Blush ink and the bottom of it was stamped in Gypsy ink and glued over the top. The greeting label (an Artiste cut) was popped up with 3D Foam Tape.

Color Dare #42--Blush, Cotton Candy and Hollyhock--Happy Mother's Day!

 Color My Heart Color Dare is a weekly color challenge that features Close To My Heart colors--feel free to substitute similar colors if you don't have these colors yet. Three lovely pinks are the challenge ingredients for week #42.   From left to right these colors are Blush, Cotton Candy and Hollyhock.  Before I glued them to the Black CS I used temporary adhesive to attach them to a piece of scrap paper so I could black emboss the  flourish from the Love Life stamp set.  The #1 Mom medallion was cut from Black and Grey Glitter Paper using the CTMH Artiste cartridge (page 74 shift cut at 1.5").  This piece was then adhered to a square of Black CS and then popped up off of the card using 3D Foam Tape.  The bottom White Daisy stripe was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and then embellished with Pink Glitz Glitter Gel.  The last thing I did to this card was to place Silver Glitz Glitter Gel dots to the ends of the flourish image.

Artiste Happy Birthday Key for Rose Blossom Garden #1 and Inspired By #69

I love to support my Close To My Heart consultant friends.  Brenda Rose and her team have just started a challenge to use a particular key from the Close To My Heart Artiste or Art Philosophy cricut cartridges to create a papercrafted item. Check it out here. I knew that I wanted to participate in this but didn't want to use the obvious Birthday items so I challenged myself to use the diamond shape to create a card.  Once I saw the Inspired By #69 challenge I  knew that I would use their colors for this card.   I cut the diamond shape (accent 4 shift) from page 70 of the Artiste handbook at 1/2" from the following Close to My Heart cardstocks:  Outdoor Denim, Sky, Cranberry, Blush, Sunset and Buttercup.  To make it easier to lay the diamonds down evenly (virgo trait) I lightly drew pencil lines 1/2" apart and placed the points of the diamonds on the lines.  Later on I erased those lines.  The greeting is from "Say it in Style" (retired CTMH) stamped in Cranberry ink, mounted on Sky CS and popped up from the background with 3D Foam Tape.  Silver Glitz Glitter Gel was applied to the points of the diamonds.  There is a mat of silver metallic paper (retired CTMH) on top of the Outdoor Denim background.  Although it was time consuming to make this card I really like the way it turned out.

Color Dare #36--Claire Colors--Blush, Hollyhock, Sunset and Outdoor Denim

Thank you, Sarah Stone, for coming up with another great color challenge!  This week's Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge uses the colors found in the new Close To My Heart paper pack called Claire (Blush, Hollyhock, Sunset and Outdoor Denim).  This is one of my favorite new color packs from Close To My Heart.  My first card features a floral panel from Claire, 1.5" circles from Sunset, Holllyhock and Blush cardstocks and a Bamboo background.  The Outdoor Denim flower overlays were cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge.  I cut apart Colonial White Rosette Ribbon and used it as the flower centers on the right.  The vertical stripe is CTMH new Slate Polka Dot Washi tape.  The greeting in the lower right corner is from Perfect Fit--Birthday.  I applied some Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel (my favorite embellishment!) to parts of the flowers in the left panel.

My next card uses white as a neutral color with a Hollyhock randomly stamped background.  I chose the round medallion type stamps from the Artiste Cricut Collection Kudos stamps as it reminded me of the Doily theme on the main panel.  The Outdoor Denim panel  was dry embossed and distressed to expose the white core of the cardstock.  I cut out one flower from the Claire paper and popped it up from the Hollyhock strip with 3D Foam Tape and glittered it with Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel.

My Rock the Block Challenge--Day 5

I'm using 2 new stamps from the Rock the Block special January promotion. You can view the rest of the stamps in the set here. I love the two background stamps that come in this set! I used Blush ink for the fishnet background and swirl and Chocolate ink on the greeting. The swirls are accented with CTMH Stardust Glitter Gel. "Thinking of you" is from D1476 Card Chatter--Sympathy which is a very versatile set. The accent stripe was made with Cranberry and Blush CS. This was an easy way to stamp without having to line up the pattern!

My Rock the Block Challenge--Day 2

I really like the corner floral stamp so I used it again for this Valentine's Day card. I used Cranberry Ink on Blush CS and carefully cut out the image. I used Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive as it has a thin nozzle and glued down the edges while placing the corner edge on the bottom. The love greeting is also from CTMH from the Card Commentary set(retired). I used a small piece of scrunched up plastic wrap and Blush ink to color the background with a faux marble appearance. To complete the card I cut a piece of gold speckled tulle, accordion folded it and used a twist tie to keep it together and then tucked it into the pocket.
