Golfer Birthday Card with Atlantic Hearts Sketch #455

Welcome back to another Atlantic HeartsSketch Challenge blog post!  This week our sketch features a diagonally striped background with a round element in the bottom right hand corner.  My diagonal background was created by alternating Silver Foil Tape and Sapphire Ink stamped sentiments from My Hole in One Stamp set.  My round corner element is a Stitched Circle Thin Cut with a golf bag image on top of it.  The golf clubs were silver embossed while the bag was stamped in Sapphire Ink.  I used a pencil eraser dipped in ink for my 3 embellishments.

Here is our fabulous sketch that inspired my card layout and for you to try.  Our challenge is open until Sunday evening, January 16 and you can link up your project here.  We look forward to visiting your blogs and leaving some bloggy comment love. Your Own Kind of Wonderful in the Watercolor Blog Hop

Welcome to our Watercolor Blog Hop!  We will be featuring the Watercoloring products from Close to My Heart such as our Watercolor Paints and our Watercolor Pencils.  If you have come here from Kathy Burrow's blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog:  http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html

This month we have 30 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using Watercolor Products and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one!

My project features a technique called "Watercolor Lifting".  Basically you paint your panel and then clear emboss your images.  Next you paint your panel with plain water to lighten the colors so your embossed images are darker.  It's pretty easy to do!

Here's a close up so you can see how shiny the silver embossed panel is:

Can you guess how I got the silver embossed dots on the butterfly?  Okay, I'll tell you--I used a small Q tip cotton swab dipped in Versamark ink pad and then applied silver embossing powder and a heat tool.  I got the Happy Birthday Greeting from the Perfect Fit Birthday stamp set.

     Watercolor Paper
     Watercolor Paints
Art Philosophy cartridge Pink dotted butterfly
     Versamark Ink
     Clear Embossing Powder
     Ranger Silver Embossing Powder
Your Own Kind of Wonderful stamp set
     Perfect Fit Birthday stamp

My card layout was inspired by Freshly Made Sketch #226:

Beloved Bouquet in Glacier, White Daisy and Silver

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge blog post.  This week we are inviting you to use just 3 colors:  Glacier, White Daisy and Silver.

As I was reading through some old blog posts I came upon a new to me technique called spotlighting.  I found more information about it on the Gina K Designs blog here.  Instead of using a frame stamp I just pencil traced around different sized CTMH acrylic blocks and then later used the CTMH silver metallic marker to fill it in.  Here is my creation:

     White Daisy CS
     Glacier CS
Beloved Bouquet January Stamp of the Month stamp
     Glacier Ink
     Silver Metallic Marker
     Silver Embossing powder

Please check out what the rest of the awesome Design Team has to inspire you with this challenge here.  We hope you will find the time to create something and share it with us on the Color Dare blog.  If you don't have the exact colors you may use something similar.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Snowflake Swirls Tutorial for Merry Monday #97 Challenge

Sparkle and Shine with Aqua, White and Silver/Grey is the theme for Merry Monday #97.  This challenge gave me the opportunity to try out a technique with Gelatos, Gesso and Dry Embossing to create the background for my card.

Here is a slanted view so you can see the silver metallic beauty:

How did I do it?  First I used a sponge brush to cover White Daisy CS with a thin coat of Gesso.  I let it dry for an hour and then used my heat tool to complete the job.  Then I spritzed the paper with water and scribbled with Cotton Candy and Silver Ice Gelatos.  I used my fingers to spread out the colors.

Next I heat dried this piece before running it through my Cuttlebug machine with the Darice Snowflake Swirls Embossing folder.

Then I used a "wet wipe" to gently remove some of the color from the raised parts of the CS.  (You can see this in the finished card).

Here is a photo of some of the art supplies I used to create this card:

Supplies Used:
      White Daisy CS
Cotton Candy and Silver Ice Gelatos by Faber Castell
      Silver Metallic CS (retired D.O.T.S.)
Christmas Melodies stamp (retired Close To My Heart)
      Versamark Ink
Silver Embossing Powder (retired Close To My Heart)
Snowflake Swirls Embossing Folder by Darice
Twinkle Brads (retired Close To My Heart)
      Glitter Ribbon by Celebrate It!
      3D Foam Tape

It was fun to try out a new background technique and I really like how this card turned out.  I can't wait to try it out with more than 2 colors!

I'm also entering this card into http://52cct.blogspot.com/2014/02/metallic-papers-challenge.html52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge to use metallic papers and Addicted to Stamps and More for a Clean and Simple card.

Starburst Card for Friday Mashup

Two posts in one day!  How did that happen?  I wanted to try this Starburst Technique to enter the Friday Mashup Challenge and the deadline was 2 hours away so I had to do it today.  I used Miracle papers (retired CTMH), Silver Embossing Powder, Versamark Ink, Silver Shimmer Trim, Twilight CS and A1125 Thanks--all from Close To My Heart.  I found the directions to make this card here.

Please excuse the flash photography--it was dark outside when I got the inspiration to make this card and I wanted to post it right away.  I will be approaching my 100th post in a few weeks and would welcome suggestions on how to commemorate it on my blog.  I would love to read your comments.....

Happy creating!
:) Marie
