Personalized Wedding Card Using Tuesday Morning Sketch #303

The bride is wearing ivory and carrying an ivory bouquet.  The groom is wearing his navy blue Air Force Captain suit. The table settings feature ivory, gold and crystal.  I'm excited to help celebrate the marriage of my oldest nephew Michael and his lovely bride Frances.  They met in medical school and make a lovely couple.  Here is the special wedding card I made for them:

     Artiste cricut cartridge
     White Daisy CS
     My Legacy writer .01
     Colonial White Rosette Ribbon (retired)
     Clear Sparkles
     Glossy Metallic paper (retired)

Other products:
Shimmery White CS from Stampin Up
     Cuttlebug Geometric Rings embossing folder
     Dark Blue textured paper--source unknown

Here is the Tuesday Morning Sketch I followed:

Dream Pop for Color Dare #45

Dream Pop is a special promotion of Close To My Heart Papers that was available the month of May with a qualifying purchase. The Color My Heart Color Dare challenge this week is to use these colors in a papercrafted item.  (If you don't have this paper yet you can substitute similar colors--see the palette here).  Many of the pages are photo ready cardstock sheets and I took the subject of my card from the bottom corner of one of these 12 x 12 sheets.  My card is 6.5" wide x 5" high so the entire owl could fit on the card.  The picture frame in the top left corner is from Frame Flair and was stamped on Whisper CS with Slate Ink.  The punny greeting inside the frame is from Just a Number and was stamped in Bubblegum ink (vintage CTMH) and clear embossed. (Owls are reputed to be "wise" and I thought this was a great saying to use with this card--it made me smile to make that connection anyway!)  I used 3D Foam Tape to lift the frame off the sentiment.  To finish the card off I added wiggle eyes, flower center Clear Sparkles and accented parts of the owl and flowers with my favorite quick embellishment--Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel.  Here is my completed card:

Here is the pre-bling card:

It took me less than 5 minutes to add the "extra" touches to make my card more attractive and it was certainly worth the time to do it.  It's those little things that make a big difference! (In my humble opinion!)

I'm also entering this card into the Heart2Heart Challenge Creature Feature.

Now it's time to check out what the rest of the fabulous Color Dare Design Team and special Guest Designer for more inspiration at Color My Heart Color Dare.  We hope you will play along with us this week!

Color Dare #38--Buttercup, Pear and Twilight

Color My Heart Color Dare has a new challenge with new Close To My Heart colors:  Buttercup, Pear and Twilight.  I probably would not have thought of putting these colors together originally but thanks to Sarah's vision that is the challenge.  I do like how these colors work together in my card.  A card on Pinterest was my inspiration for this card.  The papers I used are Twilight from Florentine, Pear from Chantilly, Buttercup from Buttercup Fleurs des Jardines, with White Daisy and Slate as neutrals.  The flower centers were embellished with small pieces of Colonial White Rosette Ribbon and Clear Sparkles.  The greeting is from Casual Expressions and was stamped in Twilight ink.

Are you up for this week's challenge!  You have until Thursday, April 18 at 9PM CST to post your papercrafted item.  If you don't have these exact Close to My Heart colors, feel free to substitute something close to these colors.  We look forward to viewing your artwork in our gallery.  Please visit the other Color Dare Design Team blogs for more inspiration.  You won't be disappointed!

Dynamic Duos #3, Play Date Cafe and CAS FTL 191 Challenges

I love the sketch provided by Clean and Simple Stamping FTL 191 and am combining it with a new color challenge that I recently discovered at Dynamic Duos. This is the third color challenge being offered by this site and the challenge is to use only the colors black, white and yellow and combine it with a dry embossing technique. The Play Date Cafe Challenge is using the same colors so I may as well enter that challenge also! I used Close To My Heart Sunny Yellow, Black, and White Daisy cardstocks along with Black embossing powder. The greeting is from A1121 A Blossom and the medallion is from B1400 Beautiful Friendship (trimmed down so it would fit in the sketch better) The white background was dry embossed with the "Distressed Stripes" cuttlebug folder. I adhered a piece of wall seam tape to the black panel and then applied CTMH Bonding Memories Glue and Prisma Glitter. The sunny yellow edges were sponged with black ink and a clear sparkle was added to the medallion which was popped up with 3D foam tape. My card:

H2H and Fantabulous Cricut Challenges using Art Philosophy

I'm entering these cards into 2 different challenges this week. The first is H2H challenge where we are to use CTMH colors Amethyst and Crystal Blue and add some "bling". The second challenge is from Fantabulous Cricut where we are to create something with a snowman or snowflake. I used the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out the snowflakes and ovals and added Clear Sparkles as the snowflake centers. The greeting is from D1187 For Every Occasion (retiring as of Feb. 1, 2011). I used both Versamark ink and Crystal Blue ink at the same time so I could clear emboss the greeting without having to stamp it twice!. The oval cutout is popped up by a layer of chipboard underneath.

Here is what the card looked like before I added the oval cutout:

Which card do you like better and why? I'm looking forward to your opinion. Thanks for stopping by!

My Rock the Block Challenge--Day 7

Well I'm meeting my challenge with this post (and I still have more Rock the Block ideas to share!) I love this set and the stamps in it can be found here. Today's card is a Valentine's Day card suitable for anyone--a friend, parent, sibling or sweetheart. This card features the corner floral stamp as the background frame for a cricut cut window card. To achieve this effect I stamped the widest edge of the stamp on each of the 4 sides of the card. I used the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge to cut out the card, the window overlay and the hearts. The colors are White Daisy, Cotton Candy and Tulip. The greeting is from "Mad About You" and is stamped on the inside of the card. A trio of small hearts were stamped, matted and popped up with 3D Foam Tape. Clear sparkles were added to accent each heart.

Thanks for viewing my cards and have a great day filled with creativity and fun!

My Rock the Block Challenge--Day 3

Although I love the large corner floral stamp which I featured the last 2 days, I also like the other stamps in this set. Today I'm sharing a card that was made with a circle border stamp from the Rock the Block set. The paper colors are White Daisy, Moonstruck and Pear. The ink colors are Pear and Dutch Blue. The font is from the "A Typeface" set. The Pear colored bottom stripe was cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge. I used a Dutch Blue marker and a ruler to draw a line on the White Daisy strip and embellished with CTMH Clear Sparkles.

You can see all the other stamps in this set at this link.

Ruffled Lace, Clear Sparkles and a Clear Button for Card Pattern Sketch 87

I enjoy challenging myself to create cards to share on various stamping related blogsites. I have learned so much from others and I'm glad that I have the opportunity to pass on some good ideas.  This week the Card Pattern Sketch 87 looks like this:

My interpretation looks like this:

There is a fan looking corner stamp in the CTMH Triple Play stamp set which was stamped twice to make the half circle.  I stamped with Pacifica Ink on Lagoon cardstock (LOVE these 2 new colors!).   I also stamped on a small piece of Lagoon CS and used a circle punch to cut it out and attached it to the clear button using CTMH Bonding Memories Glue Pen which dries clear.  I looked through my shoebox full of ribbon and found this white irridescent ruffled lace which I attached using my sewing machine to Pacifica cardstock. Then I glued the Pacifica CS onto a White Daisy folded card. Last I took out my set of clear adhesive sparkles and stuck them on the card.  (When I went to photograph this card the sparkles appeared uneven and too bright so I used my scanner which created the shadow on the top left corner.)  Do you think I have too many sparkles or not enough?  Your comments are always appreciated.  Thanks for stopping by!

My first H2H challenge

Last week I joined the H2H Challenge and participated in a "Sketch" Challenge.  We were to copy a diagram with our own design elements.  I enjoyed it so much that I posted 2 cards.  Here they are:

Sketch:

Snow Friends Card:

This card was made with only CTMH products.  The colors used were Pacifica, black, sky and white daisy.  The stamp set is D1244 Snow Friends. A cranberry marker was used to color the cardinal and hat. Although the embellishments may look like eyelets, they are red or clear sparkles on the stamped image.  On the black strip white Opaques Adhesive Gems were used.

Circle of Love Card:

I love the Circle of Love Stamp set (D1438)!  It has 2 greetings, 1 frame, 2 flourishes, 1 small heart, 2 focal images--feather and Peacock--a very versatile new set!  Many CTMH new colors were used here also: Cotton Candy, Lagoon and Pacifica.  Lagoon ink was used to stamp the feather stamp.  Clear sparkles appear on the Pacifica stripe.
Feel free to leave comments. Thanks for looking! :)
