Color Dare #51--Desert Sand, Bamboo with Choice of Color

Welcome back to another Color Dare post!

The Color My Heart Color Dare challenge this week is to create a papercrafted item using the Close To My Heart colors Desert Sand and Bamboo as neutrals combined with a color of your choice.  I've had this lovely Quick Cards--Bountiful Season stamp for awhile which hadn't yet been inked so I chose the color Autumn Terracotta to showcase this beautiful stamp.

The paper strip on the left is very old Desert Sand B & T paper. The background panel on the right is Bamboo CS which was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and then swiped with a Desert Sand ink pad to give it some "smudgy" color.  The shimmery stripe is actually Silver Shimmer Trim which was colored with an Autumn Terracotta Alcohol Marker.  (Coloring Silver Shimmer Trim with CTMH alcohol markers gives you so many more shimmery color opportunities!)  Bountiful Season was stamped in Autumn Terracotta ink onto Colonial White CS and then matted onto Autumn Terracotta CS and lifted off the card using 3D Foam Tape.  This card came together very quickly.  Now it's your turn to play along with us.  (You can always substitute similar colors if you don't have Close To My Heart products yet.)  Link up your card here.

Color Dare #36--Claire Colors--Blush, Hollyhock, Sunset and Outdoor Denim

Thank you, Sarah Stone, for coming up with another great color challenge!  This week's Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge uses the colors found in the new Close To My Heart paper pack called Claire (Blush, Hollyhock, Sunset and Outdoor Denim).  This is one of my favorite new color packs from Close To My Heart.  My first card features a floral panel from Claire, 1.5" circles from Sunset, Holllyhock and Blush cardstocks and a Bamboo background.  The Outdoor Denim flower overlays were cut with the Art Philosophy cartridge.  I cut apart Colonial White Rosette Ribbon and used it as the flower centers on the right.  The vertical stripe is CTMH new Slate Polka Dot Washi tape.  The greeting in the lower right corner is from Perfect Fit--Birthday.  I applied some Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel (my favorite embellishment!) to parts of the flowers in the left panel.

My next card uses white as a neutral color with a Hollyhock randomly stamped background.  I chose the round medallion type stamps from the Artiste Cricut Collection Kudos stamps as it reminded me of the Doily theme on the main panel.  The Outdoor Denim panel  was dry embossed and distressed to expose the white core of the cardstock.  I cut out one flower from the Claire paper and popped it up from the Hollyhock strip with 3D Foam Tape and glittered it with Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel

We would love to have you join us in this challenge!  Just link up your papercrafted creation to Color My Heart Color Dare by Thursday evening, April 4 by 9PM CST.  Check out what the rest of the Design Team has created for this challenge.  They would be thrilled if you would comment on their work too!

Oops!  I almost forgot to mention that there is a prize for the winner this week:

Color Dare #24--Neutrals and Design Team Announcement

Have you been to Color My Heart Color Dare this week?  If so, you'll see that there is a brand new Design Team and I'm on it!  I'm very excited to  join the very talented ladies that are on this team!  Visit my sidebar and check out their amazing blogs. I've had the opportunity to be a Guest Designer for this challenge which I thoroughly enjoyed and now I will be submitting something made with the fabulous Close To My Heart products every week!

This week's challenge is to create a project (card, layout or other papercrafted item)  using only neutral colors from the Close To My Heart Basic color palette.  They are:

White Daisy
Colonial White and

At first I thought that this would be difficult as I usually prefer bright colors but then I remembered that I had the perfect CTMH paper in my stash.  Silhouette was one of my favorite Close To My Heart papers which retired several years ago but it works great for this color challenge!  It features Black, Bamboo, Colonial White and White Daisy.  The paper I chose has a lovely floral pattern to it.  On  my first card I also added Chocolate, Colonial White and Desert Sand cardstocks and used Almond Glitz Glitter Gel and Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel to embellish the patterned paper.  The sentiment is from Card Chatter--Sympathy (a very versatile set) and it was inked in Versamark ink, Chocolate ink and then clear embossed to give it some texture.

After I applied the CTMH Glitter Gels I wondered if maybe I went overboard with it so I made two more cards trying out different neutral colors.  In this next card I used Black and White for the greeting and Colonial White as the card base.

This last card features  Black embossed sentiment on a Bamboo strip of cardstock with a black card base.

I like all of these cards with a slight preference for the glittered first one.  Do you have a preference?  I would be interested in reading it and would love for you to leave me a comment if you have the time.

This neutrals color challenge at Color My Heart Color Dare ends at 9PM Central Time on Thursday.  We would love to have you join us there!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!
:) Marie
