Artiste Cut Feathers for Color Dare #105

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare blog post where we challenge you to use Close To My Heart colors. We're looking ahead to Fall with this color scheme:  Sunset, Pear and Barn Red.

You must use all 3 of these colors in your papercrafted creation (it doesn't have to be a card!).  You may also combine your project with neutral colors such as white, black, greys, tans.  If you don't have CTMH colors yet you may substitute with a similar color.

Close To My Heart products used:
     Barn Red CS
     Sunset CS
     Pear CS
     White Daisy CS
     Black CS
     Artiste cartridge
     Artbooking cartridge
     Dot Embossing Folder
     Pear Ink
     Baker's Twine Paradise Assortment
Barn Red Ink and sponge dauber for feathers

The feathers were cut from White Daisy CS with the Artiste cricut cartridge.  (pg. 78 Accent 3 shift 1 at 2.75" and 2 at 2.5").  I then sponged Barn Red ink on the feathers.  Hello is found on page 39 of the Artbooking cricut cartridge book and was cut at .5".

The dotted embossed squares were colored by painting Pear ink (ink an acrylic block and then spritz with water) onto the negative area of the embossing folder.  Squares were cut out after the paper was embossed.

Check out what the fabulous Color My Heart Color Dare Design Team has to inspire you. You have until Thursday, August 14 at 9 PM CT to enter your papercrafted creation here.  We look forward to visiting your blogs and seeing what you create with the colors Sunset, Pear and Barn Red.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

March Sketch Challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

If you are looking for the Color My Heart Color Dare blog post please go here.

The Close To My Heart Artbooking cartridge has so many wonderful images to choose from that it made it really easy to make this card.

There is holographic paper (Colorbok) underneath the raised snowflake overlay (Artbooking page 76 overlay shift at 2.25" and trimmed to fit the space.  The greeting was silver embossed from the Holiday Wishes stamp set (retired CTMH).  The background paper is Close To My Heart Sky CS.  The stitching was done with a piercing tool, ruler and white gel pen.

This is the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown sketch that inspired me:

I'm also entering this card into the Merry Monday #98 challenge to use stitching and buttons (I'm taking artistic liberty to consider sequins as buttons--buttons were just not sparkly enough for my card!)

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Color Dare #71-- Cranberry and Ponderosa Pine

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare blog post!
This week's challenge is to use the Close To My Heart colors Cranberry and Ponderosa Pine in your papercrafted creation.  (You may substitute similar colors if you don't have the assigned Close To My Heart colors).  Getting ready for the Thanksgiving holidays did not leave me with a lot of time to create so I looked through the CTMH cricut cartridges I own and found cuts that suited my needs.  This card did come together quickly!

Supplies used:  Artbooking, Artiste, Cranbery CS, Ponderosa Pine CS, White Daisy CS, Universal Backgrounds Stamp, Slate ink, Glossy Metallic paper (retired DOTS from mid 90's!) and a red sparkle.  (I used a flash to photograph this card so you could see the silver metallic panel.)

We are looking forward to seeing how you use these two fabulous colors together.  (You may also use neutrals such as black, white and off white.)  Please link up your creations here.  Now head on over and see what the rest of the fabulous Color Dare Design Team has to inspire you.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!
:) Marie

p.s. I'm also entering this card into Bitten by the Bug 2 Christmas Card Fantabulous Cricut--Sparkle and Bling, Rose Blossom Garden Christmas Theme and Use it Tuesday-Anything Goes challenges.

Seeing Double for Heart 2 Heart Challenge

Heart 2 Heart is a challenge blog that features the use of Close To My Heart products. (In other words you must use some CTMH products if you link your project up to this blog).   This week's theme is "Seeing Double" and I chose to use Desert Sand cut reindeer from the new CTMH Artbooking cartridge (page 57 Icon cut at 3").  The background was stamped with the Quick Card--Bright All Night Hostess Reward Set (stamped three times, trimmed and pieced together for the sky) in Crystal Blue ink.  The bottom of the card was run through the Cuttlebug machine with an embossing folder.  Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel was applied to the antlers and a White Chalk marker was used on the tail and the front of the reindeer.

How will you interpret this challenge?  We look forward to seeing what you create for this "Seeing Double" challenge.  Remember to use some Close To My Heart products in your creation.  Use a direct link to link to Heart to Heart--you have until the end of November to enter this challenge.

Hexagon Shaped Card for Heart 2 Heart Challenge

Heart 2 Heart really challenges me to think outside the box with their numerous "theme" challenges.  This week both H2H Design Teams will be posting "Shaped Cards"--other than rectangular or square.

My card started with a 4.25" Colonial White hexagon cut from the new Artbooking cartridge.  I then used my Close To My Heart ruler to trace the shape adding .25 to all sides.  I scored on the top flat side and traced again to form a folded card base from Autumn Terracotta CS.  The Cranberry CS mat was cut at 4.5 from Artbooking.  The flowers are from the Autumn Happy set--first stamped in Cranberry ink and then stamped in Autumn Terracotta ink to fill in the "white" spaces.  The greeting is from Heartfelt Birthday Wish which was masked to allow the Washi Wonder stamp (Exclusive Hostess Reward--see page 6 of the catalog here) to fit under the birthday greeting.  Almond Glitz Glitter Gel was applied to the inside of the birthday letters.

The Color My Heart Color Dare challenge this week is to pick Cranberry and one other color so this card meets that challenge also.

We would love to have you play along with us at Heart 2 Heart with this Shaped Card challenge.  You have until the end of October to link your card up with us here.  We can't wait to see what you create!  Please check out what the rest of the awesome Design Team has for you and leave them so well deserved comments if you can.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Color Dare #63--Ruby, Pacifica and Outdoor Denim and Blog Candy Alert!

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare post!  The Close To My Heart colors we are using this week are Ruby, Pacifica and Outdoor Denim. (You may substitute similar colors if you don't have these CTMH colors yet.)  The Artbooking cartridge was used to create the vertical lattice strip cut from Outdoor Denim CS and layered over White Daisy CS (page 47 overlay shift cut at 4" at Real Dial Size and trimmed to fit the card).  The greeting is one of Close To My Hearts' new individual stamps called Heartfelt Birthday Wish stamped in Ruby ink.  I used a long stamp from the Frosted Cardmaking Kit to accent the greeting panel.  This was layered over Ruby CS.  The card base is Pacifica CS.  The last 2 final touches I used were 3D Foam Tape and Silver Glitz Glitter Gel.

This card went together very quickly and I still have remnants of the lattice overlay to use in a future card.  I am also linking this card up to Bitten by the Bug-2 Overlay challenge.

We look forward to how you will use these colors together!  Please use a direct link to your blog post (not your entire blog) by Thursday, October 9 at 12pm CST here.

Welcome back to another Sunday Stamps Color Challenge.  This week we are challenging you to combine the following colors:  Mint/Aqua, Coral and Gold.  You may add neutrals such as white, black or off white to enhance your design.

I used the Close To My Heart colors Sorbet, Green Chiffon (retired) and Metallic Gold (retired).  The flower center was stamped with Sorbet ink and the Honeycomb stamp set.  The greeting is from Say It In Style (retired CTMH).  The hexagonal flower was cut using the new Close To My Heart Artbooking cartridge--page 66 Border cut at Real Dial Size 2.5" amd trimmed to look like a flower.

Summer Smiles for Rose Blossom Garden Challenge #10

Happy Labor Day Weekend which in the USA signifies the end of summer and back to school!  The challenge for the last 2 weeks of August at the Rose Blossom Garden is to use a summer theme and the Artbooking Family key (page 67).  This is probably one of the fastest cards I ever made (although the planning of it took some thought!)  I really liked the photo mats from page 67 and decided to "frame up" a scene from Surf's Up paper.  I cut photo mat 1 at Real Dial Size at 4" and then chose a section of the paper to highlight.  I stamped a greeting "Summer Smiles" (from Summer Wishes set retired CTMH) in Pacifica ink in the top right hand corner.  The final touch was the application of Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel on the top of the wave part of the frame.  I also placed the framed picture on the card so that the bottom and right side were white--just to add a little bit more interest.

Artbooking in August #4

Welcome to the 4th and final week of the Artbooking in August series.  A group of 35 Close To My Heart consultants have been hard at work creating one of the following 4 items to share with you each week--card, mini-album, giftable item or home decor and 2 page scrapbook layout.  We have each had the opportunity to stretch ourselves in the creative process.  Please visit as many blogs as you can and leave some appreciation for all the hard work we've put into this fabulous undertaking. Give a big thanks especially to Adeline Brill for setting this all up!

If you have come from Pam Ellison's blog you are on the right track! If you get lost you can go here to get back on track.

My last entry in this series is a 2 page layout which will also be a gift for a very dear friend.  I used the overlay cut on page 66 cut at 11" for the background of each page (the left side has the negative cut and the right side has the positive cut).  The "Great Outdoors" title was also cut at 11" (Real Dial Size off!) as all the cuts coordinate in size at the recommended 11"--how cool is that?

Materials used:
Artbooking Cartridge
Champagne CS
Desert Sand CS
Cranberry CS

Now head on over to see what the talented Shalana Glass has to share with you.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week filled with fun and creativity!

Black, Fuchsia and Red Color Challenge for Sunday Stamps Challenge #57

Welcome back to another Sunday Stamps Challenge post!  This week we challenge you to use the colors Black, Fuchsia and Red in a papercrafted project.  You can use any brand you wish.

My color choices are Close To My Heart Cranberry, Black, White Daisy and Watermelon (retired CTMH).  The White Daisy background was dry embossed with the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday folder.  A strip of red and white craft tape (washi tape) by Recollections was applied across the top portion of the card.  The stack of gifts was cut with the new Artbooking cartridge (pg. 86 Icon shift cut at 3.5") and small pieces of Cranberry and Watermelon CS were placed behind the overlay.  The gifts were popped up from the card with 3D Foam Tape.  I probably wouldn't have chosen to make this card with these colors had it not been for this Sunday Stamps challenge and I like how it turned out.

We can't wait to see what you create using these colors!   Please use a direct link to join us here and include a link back to us in your blog post.  (Feel free to post our color graphic too to let your readers know about our challenge.)

Please take the time to visit the rest of the Design Team's blogs and leave them some appreciation.

My project is called a Travel Mini-Album and it is 8" x 8".  Lots of photos!
